This particular president is best remembered for serving one
four-year term, sitting one out, and then returning to serve another four
years. He was our 22nd
president from 1885-1889, and our 24th president from
1893-1897.
Born on March 18th, 1837 in New Jersey, Grover Cleveland
was the first democrat elected after the Civil War. He was a lawyer in Buffalo until age 44, when he first entered
the political scene.
As our president he refused to let any one particular
economic group to get special consideration through diplomatic policies. He also signed the Interstate Commerce
Act, which was the first law that attempted to impose Federal regulations on
the railroads.

In June of 1886, Grover Cleveland married Frances Folsom and was the
first and only president to be married in the White House.
President Cleveland was known for his
firm resolve in all matters of diplomacy and foreign policy.
He lived in retirement in Princeton,
New Jersey after leaving the White House until he passed away on June 24
th,
1908.
