The Arlington National Cemetery

At the official site for the Arlington National Cemetery you can find out exactly how to get there, visitor and funeral information, a schedule of ceremonies, and more.  The section on historical information is very extensive and includes historical facts, pages on famous people buried at the cemetery, and even a photo gallery with scenes from within the cemetery.

The Signal Corps Museum

Aside from the listing of Chief Signal Officers from 1860 to the present time, the history of the ‘wigwag’ is especially informative.  Find out who the Medal of Honor recipients are or dive into the exhibits and collections.  You’ll find artifacts from Albert J. Myer, founder of the Signal Corps, expedition information on Signal Corps Aviation, and the WWII Signal Message Center.  You can also search the archives.

The Cold War Museum

At this interactive museum you can play trivia games, take a spy tour, and read timelines from the 1940’s through the 1990’s.  Check out the online exhibits including the virtual CIA and DIA exhibits, the Berlin Wall, patches collection, photo gallery and the Cold War Museum Collection.  There is also a Reconnaissance Aircraft Exhibit with a history of the Photo Reconnaissance coming soon.  Also be sure to browse the educational programs and find out the schedule of the traveling museum.

The California Military Museum

Learn about the current exhibits, the library research center, and satellite and partner museums.  Especially enlightening is the California Military History Section, which has State Military and National Guard Unit Histories, The Mexican War, The Indian Wars, The San Francisco Dock Strike of 1934, Aviation History, and Naval History.   A Special Section on the Submarine Centennial: 100 Years – From the Depths – Seapower is included.  Also learn about educational and outreach programs, Heraldry and Insignia, and affiliate sites.

Military History, New York State

This Military History Museum and Veteran’s research center is a great place to find little known facts on New York military personnel and units.  Learn about the original New York State Military Museum at the state capital and the new location at the Saratoga Springs Armory.  See exhibits that have been created and what’s in store for the future.

Texas Military Forces Museum

This extensive site has the complete history of the museum, a brief history on Camp Mabry, a newsletter, and historic Texas flags.  Browse panels showing descriptions of some of their exhibits and holdings, choose from over 25 sections of a Texas National Guard Historical Sketch from 1835-1938, WWII Unit Histories, or view the 36th Infantry Division Gallery.  Discover the Lost Battalion Association and view WWII strength and casualty statistics, or check out the Texas Air National Guard Hall of Honor.

The Virginia Military Institute Museum

Be sure to check out what this historic museum has in their collection and especially take a tour of the virtual art exhibit online.  You can browse paintings, sculptures, or the Raeburn Collection.  Read about the newest exhibit on Vietnam, and for teachers there is a section concerning field trips.  Under the link category rests the VMI archives, several photos, and The Ghost Cadet, the story of a VMI Cadet in the Civil War.

45th Infantry Division Museum

For photos pertaining to the 45th Infantry Division Museum, check out the Main Museum Index.  The Air Guard, artillery room, mortars and battle flag streamers, infantry room, aircrafts, weapon collections, bunkers, and special exhibits are all part of this collection.  Read Oklahoma’s Early History including the Indian Police, Indian Wars, and the Civil War.  In timeline progression you’ll learn the complete background of the 45th Infantry Division.

Korean War Veterans National Museum & Library

Audie Leon Murphy Memorial Site

Established to preserve the memory, honor, and history of the late

Mr. Murphy, the most decorated American combat soldier of World

War II.  It was donated to the Audie Murphy Research Foundation for Americans to learn about inspiration and heroes.  Browse art exhibits, a biographical sketch, books, CD’s, documents, memorabilia, and important places.  Watch film clips or look through the gallery of photos.  There are even movies, newspaper clippings, poems, songs, and more.
